Interact with hundreds of birds in one of the biggest open and natural aviaries in South America. Explore this park that works as a conservation and captive breeding home for the endangered species. Keep in mind when booking this tour to the Aviario Nacional in Barú that, depending on the option you choose, it is possible to visit Playa Blanca on the same day.
In the aviary you will find a unique space created for each specie and surrounded by birds from the different ecosystems of Colombia, the country with the greatest diversity of birds in the world. You will have the opportunity to explore three unique ecosystems: rainforest, coast and desert, as well as two adapted areas for migratory birds on a trail that rises up 6 meters, giving visitors the opportunity to watch how birds behave in the different layers of the forest-floor, understory and canopy. In the aviary there are approximately 2,000 birds of 160 different species that live on seven hectares of land.
This tour to the National Aviary in Baru is located 50 minutes from Cartagena and lasts approximately two hours. Once there, you can see harpy eagles, different macaw species, flamingos, black-winged stilts, eurasian stone-curlews, parakeets, woodpeckers, condors, cardinals and curassows. Additionally, you will also see migratory species that arrive to the aviary’s 21 stations.
If you decide to book the option that includes lunch, the tour continues to Playa Blanca, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch typical of Cartagena.
